I have found it really hard to understand why the word ‘Saddle’ is used in a bicycle. No word which has anything related to ‘SAD’ can be used to describe any element or part of a bike as the only thing it has given to me or the really passionate and wonderful people that I have come across is lots of happiness.
For a guy who used to struggle to wake up at 10-11 sometimes even 12 in the morning waking up at 4 only and only because I know I am going out to do something which is not just making me healthy but is also giving me a lot of positivity which I was finding hard to get from the prevailing situation of the world , with Coronavirus wrecking havoc and the things that I was hearing from around the world was very disturbing.
Being locked inside the house for 3 and a half months made me realise how important it was to work on my fitness, but being extremely lazy I couldn’t do anything more than 2 days. Finally during the lock down I came across cycling from my cousin brother who has been into cycling for a while, from there on I started gaining interest in bicycles and started watching cycling videos on you tube. After I discovered my interest it was about finding the right bike for me and I asked my brother regarding what I should buy, fortunately he had a spare cycle which he was happy to lend me . I can’t thank him enough as I am absolutely in love with this bike and I always feel that ” My heart is fixed on this fixie “( bike).
Now it was about finding a bunch of people with whom I could ride , since I had no friend in my society. I went online and came across ” Greater Noida West cycling Club” and as soon as I came across it and saw the wonderful pictures on their website , it was clear how much fun they have and how much they enjoy each other’s company , it was all what I needed and within a few minutes I registered myself for the club and here I am today having the time of my life.
GNWCC is not just a club it’s a family of people from different age groups who come together and are united by the love for cycling . I have felt that love and warmth from the very first day as I vividly remember we were going to D park and I was struggling to match others and was extremely fatigued after 10kms but my dear friend Yashwant pushed me to do more and I completed 25kms . It continued to be challenging covering long distance and also being really slow, but I am grateful how everyone took care of me like a younger brother and kept guiding me and today I am easily able to do over 50kms and looking forward to my first century ride soon.
GNWCC has given a lot , but the most important thing it has given me is a group of people whom I can call family who are always there for me. Cycling which started as an interest for fitness has turned out to be my passion and my dream is to travel to my native place i.e. Uttrakhand on my bike. Hopefully the pandemic will end soon and we will be able to peddle without any restrictions.
