Greater Noida West Cycling Club has celebrated International Women’s Day in different style.
On 8th March, 2020 Club has started cycling ride from Kisan Chowk to D Park. Along with male cyclist, female cyclist, kids and even housewives also participated in the event. Cycle ride was of 8 kms and completed by all the participants and even kids enjoyed it. Event was wrapped up after a cake cutting ceremony in which cake was cut by women. Greater Noida West Club thanked all the female participants by gifting indoor plants.Organizer of the events.
On 03 Mar 2020, Amar Ujala reporter Naveen Kumar covered story of cycling benefits and increased use of cycle in Greater Noida West area. As interviewed many cyclists of GNWCC, most of them mentioned Fitness & Environment benefits as reason for opting cycling. GNWCC is popular club in area and working for social causes too. Also covered GNWCC celebrating #N0CarDay throughout year and many members are commuting to office by cycle for better environment and less traffic.
As most of you already know, we had requested GNWCC riders to ride and click a beautiful picture of their bike expressing love for cycling and their bike between 14-16 Feb 2020. On Sunday 16th Feb 2020 my fellow riders and me rode to Sanjay Lake. It was my first time to this artificial lake but worth riding. you are planning for a morning outing you can visit this place along with kids and family.
Sanjay Lake is an artificial lake developed by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Trilokpuri in East Delhi, India,adjoining Mayur Vihar II residential area.The lake is Spread over an area of approximately 17 hectares (42 acres) in the middle of a 69 hectares (170 acres) forest area, also known as Sanjay Lake Park.Sanjay Lake was developed in the 1970s by DDA and opened in 1982.The lake attracts some migratory birds and has many indigenous trees.A well-laid-out fitness track is very popular with walking-enthusiasts.
The lake bound by Sanjay lake park, is surrounded by the residential colonies of Kalyanpuri and Trilokpuri on the eastern side and Mayur Vihar on the Western side. Sanjay Jheel is a huge rainwater fed lake. At times, the water supply was augmented by the back flowing Yamuna. During floods, it also received water through Hindon River channel.
Different types of birds can be seen here till February end every year.According to Local birders, the lake hosts 90 varieties of birds.Shovellers, Pintails, common pochard, tufted pochard, common teal, spot-bill, yellow headed wagtail and pied wagtail are some of the birds that commonly visit the lake.The migratory birds mostly come to the eastern part of the lake, as the water is deeper and the area is free from human disturbances.
Sanjay Lake is the tourist location of Delhi. This is a lake along with a long park. Sanjay Lake has a total forested area of 170 acres,and it is one of the longest park of East Delhi locations. Sanjay Lake is an artificial lake which is dependent on sewer and rainwater.
Adjacent to Sanjay Lake there is also an adventure Park was inaugurated on 16 December 2015 by then Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia. The park has been set up by Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) in association with Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under PPP mode. The Adventure Park is claimed to have been developed on a Wild West theme making extensive use of natural materials such as wood and jute rope and consisting of hut like structures. Spread across 6.3 acres, it has nine lawns-Great Plain, Battle Ground, Home Dome, The Den, Grazing Field, Bad Lands, Cattle Ranch, Cowboy Creek and a man-made beach.Apart from that, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has also suggested twin corporate towers, a park, old-age homes and studio apartments for its ambitious ‘Lake City project’ at Sanjay Lake.
Everyone in GNWCC feeling proud to announce its association with “Fit India” Movement. In August 2019, Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi launched Fit India Movement to take the nation on a path of fitness and wellness.
Greater Noida West Cycling Club also believes in regular workouts along with awareness in society related to social issues. On 26th January GNWCC launched “#NoCarDay” campaign for year 2020 and will work throughout year for fitness through cycling along with fight against pollution.
Fit India Movement provides a unique and exciting opportunity to work towards a healthier India. As part of the movement, individuals and organisations can undertake various efforts for their own health and well-being as well as for the health and well-being of fellow Indians.
