If you have not read my earlier post, it would be a good idea to read that first. Since my previous blog, a lot has happened in the world but one thing which has impacted all of us in one way or another is COVID19, let me start with that.
COVID19 Break: I was fortunate enough of having a lifestyle which did not change much during COVID19 break. WFH was a normal even before COVID19, for me. Because of nationwide lockdown, two things which had impact in my life was weekend outings with family and my morning cycling schedule. I am not much accustomed to doing workouts at home and morning outdoor cycling completely stopped for the three months March, April and May 2020 for me. It was towards end of May when I started again.
Continuing Life & Cycling: Despite very hot and humid weather, June & July has been active for me in terms of cycling which is inline with my plans and I did complete 600 kms in both the months with one century each. This is the kind of figure I wish that I maintain in for every month.
Getting 5K: Getting a total of 5K kms on record gave immense satisfaction and gives me confidence that yes, I want to continue this for rest part of my life. Although 2020 has been very active except COVID19 break, getting a total of 5K kms, took little less than two years. This also completed my initial plan of having 5 centuries along with 5K kms before I call myself a cyclist. All four active months recently contributed one century each. For whatsoever reasons 2019 was not much active and this is the kind of discontinuity I wish not to have in future.
GNWCC Team: Over the last few months which has been very active, I have realized how much riding in groups can contribute to your stats. Almost half of my 5K kms have come from four months of 2020 alone. I am thankful for being part of this wonderful team. Everyone in the team is as wonderful and supportive as they can be as a rider and as a human being.
The Great India Cycling Challenge: GNWCC had launched this challenge in June to encourage cycling and to encourage people to come out and start. It was all about consistency and not kms. Goal was to do cycling on as many days as possible over a period of 30 days with a minimum requirement of 15 days and 10 kms per day. Lot of people came forward and participated in challenge from Greater Noida West as well as from all over India. Award ceremony of this challenge was conducted on 31st July. I feel privileged, to have participated in and complete the challenge. Also, I covered the event as a photographer. Photos taken by me are hosted on facebook page of the GNWCC Team.
Looking Ahead: My self set target of 5K kms along with 5 centuries is done, so yes, I am looking to buy a road bike which I can take out for long endurance rides as well as multi day tours, over the next 10 years at least. I am still not finalized but yes it will be sooner than later now. Another aspect which I wanted to start was jogging / running and I am very much on it. Surrounded by so many wonderful athletes and positive energy, I am sure I will write more about it in my next blog, till then, take care, stay safe.
